Bringing your little ones to the beach doesn’t have to be a daunting task. So, grab your beach bag, embrace the joyous chaos, and enjoy the magic of a day at the beach with your little ones.

We decided to take a Door County day trip, checking out the amazing parks, such as Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park, then driving around the peninsula.

Our family loves going to Menominee Park & Zoo in Oshkosh, located on Lake Winnebago. Pack a picnic lunch in the cooler and a water bottle for everyone before you head out in the morning. It’s a roughly 50-minute drive down 41 from Green Bay.

Many drownings happen during non-swim or unexpected times; that’s why proper fencing or pool covers, and very close supervision are needed any time children are near water.

Ahhh, the summer family vacation – one of my favorite types of trips to plan! State parks to hike, lakes and/or pools to swim, new experiences and adventures to be had! Where shall we go this year? Blue Mound, WI! Let’s hit the road!

Then, when she was 6, she started getting invited to swim and water outings – a friend’s birthday party, a Girl Scouts outing, etc. I knew I had to get over myself and purchase (and wear) a swimsuit. I had avoided it for years – I was no longer a slim size 2, and combining that with my dislike of water activities, I could literally think of almost anything else I would rather do.

Last summer, my family and I were driving home from our vacation when we decided to make a stop at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac for a picnic and to help break up the long drive home. I had heard the views of Lake Winnebago at Lakeside Park were beautiful, but what I didn’t know was what an amazing park it is for children!
