My husband and I recently enjoyed a three-day getaway to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, alone. Since neither of us had traveled to an all-inclusive resort, we decided to take a trip in February and enjoy a few days of sun, alone time, and tasty food.

This year, my family decided to head out west to South Dakota.  My kids are older, so we packed in the activities on each day.  

This is our family’s experience at Six Flags Great America from this past summer when we took our family (mostly teens and 1 tween) several times to Six Flags Great America. It’s less than a 3-hour drive from Green Bay, which allowed for fun memories to be made in a day trip!

This year, we decided to take a trip to Nags Head, NC.  I am an adventurous person, so when I plan trips, it’s to places I haven’t visited before.  My family, along with another family, decided to go to the ocean since most of our kids haven’t been there before.

With some careful planning and a little bit of creativity, you can make the journey enjoyable for both you and your child. We recently took a 16-hour road trip down to Orange Beach, Alabama, and arrived with our sanity still intact

We had the opportunity to join a field trip group to visit Earthaven Museum, which filled their cups full with fantastic rock-collecting fun.

We decided to take a Door County day trip, checking out the amazing parks, such as Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park, then driving around the peninsula.

Our family loves going to Menominee Park & Zoo in Oshkosh, located on Lake Winnebago. Pack a picnic lunch in the cooler and a water bottle for everyone before you head out in the morning. It’s a roughly 50-minute drive down 41 from Green Bay.

Take a day and travel to Wausau, WI!  Riverlife Park, located at 1400 N River Dr, Wausau, WI 54403, has a walking/biking trail, playground, outdoor fitness area, kayak launch, Briq’s soft-serve ice cream shop, and WOW (Wausau on Water) Family Entertainment Center!!

Admittedly, I am biased… until we moved up here 5 years ago, it’s where I was born and raised, and lived in the area late into my 30s. Here are some of our family’s favorite options for a kid-friendly day trip.
