Love + Marriage

My husband and I recently enjoyed a three-day getaway to an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica, alone. Since neither of us had traveled to an all-inclusive resort, we decided to take a trip in February and enjoy a few days of sun, alone time, and tasty food.

During the Christmas season, I decided to shower my husband with “25 Days of I Love You” to make him feel extra special.

So, I racked my brain for some out-of-the-box Valentine’s Day date night ideas that don’t require a babysitter and some budget-friendly ideas if you do have a babysitter!

Ultimately, the foundation for a loving home IS a husband and wife. If we are happy, united as a team, and communicate with each other, our children will only benefit from that.

Un-perfect Mom but not unfit… I have never been ordinary, regular, or the same as everyone else. And I was ALWAYS proud of that!! To me, perfection is BORING! And that is most definitely not who or what I want to be.

I am not one for research, but recently I experienced something not a lot of my friends have had to experience: the loss of my mom. This forced me to move outside the norm and seek advice elsewhere.

I am an imperfect stepmom! I think all stepmoms are imperfect, just as are parents, but there seems to be more of an eye on stepparents because someone else’s children are our responsibility at times.

Nearly six years in, yes, I would marry my husband again. We’ve had the important conversations several times and continue to have those talks because they are ever-evolving.

I knew that marrying someone with children and becoming a step-mom would add an interesting twist to the holidays.

As I work to stop chasing perfection, my reactions and mindset are positive and growing. The clean home, the organization, or the kids consistently having brushed teeth and picked up toys won’t matter anymore if these people are not in my life.
