Now that I’m a parent, I understand their high expectations, and in turn, have them for my own kids.

“I wish you would thank me.”Confused, I asked, “For what? “For doing things for you. Like going to this family gathering. I know part of being in a relationship is doing things you don’t want to do for the person you love. I just wish you would say thank you.”

As soon as she complimented me, I thanked her, but had to be honest with her.  I mean, it wasn’t the truth.  I’m not ALWAYS put together, calm, and composed.

Any pregnancy is exciting, but when you learn multiples are on their way, things are just a bit different! You find out you are pregnant with not just one, but TWO babies (or more)!!!

Did you know May is the official “Mental Health Month?” I have battled with anxiety on and off for most of my life. My anxiety centers around health phobias, and it always feels so silly, but the reality is that I am not alone in my anxiety battles.

Don’t get me wrong: I have 100 percent respect and admiration for those who’ve served – most notably, my brother and my late grandfather. But admittedly, for me, Memorial Day has always had predominant overtones of picnics, parades, and a day off from school.

Yes, I said it. I could have negotiated and had better results without having to yell. Something I’ve been working on in my Mom Skills Box is doing more negotiating with my crew, so I can yell at them less. 

I was lucky as a child to grow up near Lake Michigan. My brother and I spent many a Summer day building sand castles and swimming in the usually chilly (but fun) water. Now, as an adult, I realize how amazing it is to live in an area that has so much beachfrontage, and it makes me appreciate our state that much more!

This is my third pregnancy, and I still feel completely surprised sometimes at the things that are happening to my body because every pregnancy is truly different.

Especially now that the weather is nicer and windows are open, my neighbors will truly be privy to my “mum voice”.  It’s a voice that even makes me cringe.
