Mom? Why don't you like me?
I don’t remember what started the disagreement with my 11-year-old daughter. Maybe it was a late math assignment or a missing permission slip. But I’ll never forget the sorrow-filled way she looked up at me from her bedroom floor, tears streaming down her face, as she asked: “Mom? Why don’t you like me?”

Restaurant Busy Kits
Eating at a restaurant with a child (or multiple children!) can be a challenge. Time ticks about 10x slower when you’re awaiting the food for a hungry child. I put together these Restaurant Busy Kits and keep them right in my car. They’ve been a real sanity saver and have made dinners out actually enjoyable again!

What being a parent has taught me about being a teacher
Like any profession, and really anything in life, there is always room for improvement. I’ve been teaching for 6 years, and I learn something new every day. Once I became a parent, my outlook on teaching really started to evolve and transform, and I saw my profession from a whole new perspective.

Life with 2 under 2
I’m not going to lie, life with 2 children under 2 years of age is quite the whirlwind, to say the least.
My 2 sons, Harrison and Benjamin, are 18 months apart. I thought life was going by crazy fast with just Harrison, and now with Benjamin’s arrival, it has sped up exponentially. God blessed us with the most mellow baby known to man, to complement the wildest toddler known to man. Without exaggerating whatsoever, I have no clue where the time goes.

Happy Birthday, My Love! Memories for My Children's Future Birthdays
Just about every birthday from age 5-30 was included, with mostly every other year of their twenties. The idea was that my daughters would read the letters on that particular birthday. So, on their 10th birthday, they would read the letter for that year (one letter from one person for each of my daughters per birthday).

5 Resolutions I Might Actually Keep
Anyone else burned out over the usual suggestions for New Year’s mom resolutions? Every year it seems we all aim for the same things… finally lose that baby weight, purge/simplify, be more “present,” stop judging others, and the list goes on!

New Year's Resolution: Start Saving for College!
$81,000. That’s the projected average cost of 4 years of tuition and fees for a UW institution in 2034. WOWZA. And, you know how we say, “time goes by so fast.” Or, “Before you know it, they are all grown up.” It’s true. And, even more reason to start saving for college TODAY!

Our Bilingual Journey
“You’re going to speak French to the baby, right?” I would hem and haw and eventually agreed to it. Well, why would one hesitate? It’s a gift! You’re giving the gift of speaking and understanding a language! The benefits to your brain!

It Won't Always Be a "Foon": Everything is Temporary
Someday, my daughters won’t pronounce “spoon” as “foon” anymore. Someday, they might not want to sing loudly for an hour. Someday, my son will be running through the house on his way to wrestling practice (yes, my husband made me choose that specific sport) rather than trying to play in the toilet.

Oh Mom, I Get IT Now
There were so many instances growing up when I just didn’t get it. My mom would ramble on, and it just went over my head. But now that I’m a mom, I’m starting to get it. There are those feelings, reactions, and thoughts that only come with being a mom. All of these expressions my mom used to say and things she used to do keep coming on like tiny light bulbs above my head — NOW I get it. For example…
