Add some fun new books to your rotation with our favorites for the Thanksgiving season

It took me nearly 10 years to find my desire to read again. As a self-proclaimed “lifelong learner”, it saddens me to think of the opportunities I missed over the years to learn new things and better myself.

 These ladies have been making history in the last few decades, and their influence is still being felt today in their respective fields

March is Women’s History Month, so it felt like a great time for me to dig in and learn more about some remarkable women who have come from our great state.

Snuggling up with your little one and a good book would be so much fun, but it just can’t happen tonight. Snuggling up and reading is always the best way to read, but hey, I get it. I am a mom and a teacher, but a little truth is, I don’t always read to my kids snuggled up every night, but we still get it done.

I have included a list of favorite Black History Month stories checked out from the Brown County Library for our February “read aloud” books.

Whatever your bookish behaviors, we can agree that books are important. But buying books gets expensive, which makes borrowing a great option. Here are 7 ways to get free books. 

Talk to your children about what issues are important to them. Try to associate their priorities with local laws and actions, and how kids can impact their world.

I love fall – sweater weather, fires, chili, the leaves changing, what’s not to love? What a beautiful time to improve your children’s language skills while enjoying fall activities and creating memories.

Some books just stick with you after you finish reading them. You remember the characters, the storyline, and the message long after you put it down.  Wonder is one of those books.
