We decided what chores each of our children is capable of doing and how many minutes each chore should be worth.  Our children are all very much money and incentive-motivated, so we felt this could be a good fit for all of them.

We chose a random Sunday to do it – I did not want to give her the cell phone as a gift or reward. We want her to know that while we let her use it, it really belongs to us, and she should treat it as something she is borrowing.

These days, you can order almost any type of product through a subscription service. From food subscriptions, touting claims that they will save money in wasted groceries and precious time shopping, to beauty and lifestyle subscriptions promising a few moments of self-care, there’s almost nothing you can’t get delivered. But are they really worth it?

Because of the frequency of hacks and stolen data, a good, protective method is to freeze your and your family’s credit (and it’s now FREE to freeze!).

Fred “Mister” Rogers was more than an American television personality. He was more than a father and husband. He was and still is an inspiration to many, even to this day, over 16 years after his death.  There are many lessons from Mister Rogers that we can use while raising our children.  Here are a few of my favorites.

One of the simplest words in the English language: like. Characterized by general approval, used in conversations countless times every day, and relatively insignificant. But there’s an additional layer of meaning for younger generations: liking something on social media.

The reality is that devices have become a problem for all of us. I have witnessed this often first-hand, as a middle school teacher in a school where each student has an iPad.
