I am on day three of snow days this week, and another is coming tomorrow.  I haven’t left my house in three full days.  I am beginning to believe that no one knows any other words than “mama” at varying levels of volume.  Although I may be closer and closer to starting to drink wine at noon, there are some activities that I have been doing with my boys that have helped beat some winter blues.

When you live in Green Bay, you are going to have snow days. That’s just the way it goes. Kids are going to be thrilled by the unexpected day off from school.

I’m tired. If you’re a parent, then I’m guessing you are too. This parenting thing is exhausting.

Talk to your children about what issues are important to them. Try to associate their priorities with local laws and actions, and how kids can impact their world.

October is Bullying Prevention Month, and one of the first steps of bullying prevention is education. 

Whether you have two or seven, anything more than one child makes all the sound parenting advice from well-meaning grocery store ladies seem downright comical.

After that night in the Walgreens parking lot, I decided that I would be the village.  If I’m at the park with my children and an unattended child there gets hurt, I will do my best to help, not wonder where their parent is.

Breastfeeding. Just the word can stir up strong emotions. Fear, joy, sadness, the list goes on… The actual task can be even more daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. These few tips can help your transition into your breastfeeding journey with a little more confidence.

But I would argue that as parents, it is our responsibility to savor every age and stage of our kids’ lives. Even the exhausting ones, where your baby wakes up screaming during the night for a feeding.

I came across a book called The Diaper-Free Baby. I had never heard of Elimination Communication before, but it made sense to me. I read parts of the book to my husband, who is notoriously skeptical of things that are “hippie-dippy,” and he said it seemed reasonable.
