Regardless of where the supply situation is, it is now the time to start getting your children back into the routines (reading, math, going to bed on time) of going back to school. I know, I know…you’re probably dreading this. However, here are some painless back-to-school tips to get back to it.

Our family loves going to Menominee Park & Zoo in Oshkosh, located on Lake Winnebago. Pack a picnic lunch in the cooler and a water bottle for everyone before you head out in the morning. It’s a roughly 50-minute drive down 41 from Green Bay.

Take a day and travel to Wausau, WI!  Riverlife Park, located at 1400 N River Dr, Wausau, WI 54403, has a walking/biking trail, playground, outdoor fitness area, kayak launch, Briq’s soft-serve ice cream shop, and WOW (Wausau on Water) Family Entertainment Center!!

Admittedly, I am biased… until we moved up here 5 years ago, it’s where I was born and raised, and lived in the area late into my 30s. Here are some of our family’s favorite options for a kid-friendly day trip.

Something that makes me feel a little better during a juxtapositional season like autumn (besides another calorie-filled candy bar) is seeing my kids get excited for a tradition we’ve put in place for longer than they can remember.

Halloween is a favorite time for both kids and adults. With trick-or-treating, fall festivals, and pumpkin patches, there are plenty of fun activities for the whole family to do. A main part of the Halloween festivities involves pumpkins, of course, and there are more things to do with them than you may think!

My favorite fall activity is our visit to The Little Farmer in Malone, WI.  I went on a date to The Little Farmer in college 16 years ago, and I have visited every year since.

Ahhh, the summer family vacation – one of my favorite types of trips to plan! State parks to hike, lakes and/or pools to swim, new experiences and adventures to be had! Where shall we go this year? Blue Mound, WI! Let’s hit the road!
