Summer is right around the corner, and I’ve got a suggestion for you! Visit Bay Beach Amusement Park! If you haven’t been to Bay Beach, you need to go. If it’s been a while, what are you waiting for?

We are very fortunate to have a High-A Milwaukee Brewers affiliate team right in our backyard. The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers play at the Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium, which is located right off the highway in Appleton, WI.

Here are some campfire snack ideas, activities around the campfire, and other nighttime activities. I’m sure you may be familiar with some of these ideas, but I hope I am able to give you some new ideas or remind you of different things to try with your kids.

Last summer, my family and I were driving home from our vacation when we decided to make a stop at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac for a picnic and to help break up the long drive home. I had heard the views of Lake Winnebago at Lakeside Park were beautiful, but what I didn’t know was what an amazing park it is for children!

Located less than 40-50 minutes away from the Green Bay/Fox Cities, along the shores of Lake Michigan, the city of Two Rivers will make the perfect distance for your family day-trip. Here are my personal favorite family-friendly hot spots and activities:

Frog catching keeps my boys active outside because we always walk on a trail while we do it.  It is one of many things our entire family enjoys doing together.

I promise you, salt projects are not the only fun activities we do. I figured if you tried my last salt project, you probably have a ton of salt leftover. If you haven’t, you should check it out! I’m hoping you find these glass bottles filled with colored salt so pretty and so much fun, you’ll wanna do this more than once!

I am going to age myself here, but I feel compelled to share another memory. When I was a kid, eight or nine years old, I was in a bowling league (at a second-hand-smoke-wafting bowling alley that now serves as a parking lot for a home improvement store) on the west side of Green Bay.

Our family loves taking hikes, catching frogs, and exploring new trails. I grew up in Neenah, and one place we would go for walks when I was a kid was Heckrodt Wetland Reserve in Menasha.

One of our favorite activities, when the kids were younger, was to do salt art. Salt art is the process of outlining (or tracing) an image on paper with squeezable glue, then adding salt and colored water to make a beautiful masterpiece. It’s easy and fun!
