25 Creative Ideas to Add to Your Summer Bucket List!

Summer is all about adventures and making memories!  This is also a great time of year to make a bucket list of things you want to see and do!  The kids can help make your summer bucket list as well.  There is a lot of joy and satisfaction that comes with crossing items off of it!   There are tons and tons of summer bucket lists out there, but here are 25 creative ideas you might not have thought of to add to your list before!


  1.  Buy a new fruit each week and try it as a family.  Bonus if it comes from a farmer’s market!


  2.  Park Crawl – Try a new park every single week!  (You can save the pub crawls for the weekend with adults)


  3. Try a new hobby as a family – learning constellations, geocaching, starting a garden, etc!


  4. Read 3-4 chapter books together as a family (or 3-4 special books if chapter books are too long for your kids)


  5.  Visit a new pool this summer


  6. Find a county or state park you have not been to and go for a walk/hike


  7. Volunteer as a family – serve a meal, do yard work for an elderly neighbor, help at an event in town


  8. Plant a new vegetable in your garden or just in a pot!


  9. Head to the library for their summer reading program


  10. Go to a concert in the park


  11. Visit a drive-in movie theater


  12. Go camping – in your backyard!!!


  13. Make your own popsicles (much healthier, too)


  14. Set up a lemonade stand in the neighborhood


  15. Teach the kids how to make some new recipes in the kitchen


  16. Have a giant water balloon fight with the neighbors – kids vs. adults


  17. Find a splash pad and enjoy!


  18. Unplug from all electronics for a week and play as many board games as possible


  19. Start to learn a new language together – early on is the BEST time for kids to acquire new languages!


  20. Do some science projects. Plain old vinegar and baking soda are so fun!


  21. Go on one-on-one dates with the kids and each parent


  22. Visit your elderly relatives or a nursing home. They appreciate visits in the nice weather, too!


  23. Learn more about 3 animals/insects that you see in the summer


  24. Try a new sport together, like croquet or pickleball


  25. Take 1,000 pictures
